While i was staying abroad i had to visit the UN headquarters in Vienna, to gather some information for a University project, at the time i remember the Syrian conflict was a hot topic of discussion, I asked the lady who was supposed to help me with my research about it, and why didnt the UN intervene as it had in Libya. Her answer was that, while in Libya the conflict was mainly political ( the rebels were trying to oust Kandafi) the conflict in Syria is way more complicated, since it has to do with religious factors ( Assad is the representative of one religious sect while the Rebels of another) and therefore there is a lot of disagreement going on, on how to deal with the situation.I am not saying i agree with them , but i thought it was worth mentioning...
