Ameinias and Narcissus

Ameinias, a young man, loved Narcissus but was scorned. To tell Ameinias off, Narcissus gave him a sword as a present. Ameinias killed himself on Narcissus' doorstep using the very same sword. As Ameinias was breathing his last he prayed to Nemesis asking for Narcissus to experience the same pain of unreturned love. Nemesis, the goddess of divine justice and vengeance, satisfied the request: the curse was fulfilled when Narcissus became entranced by his reflection in a pool at the gardens of Echo and tried to seduce the beautiful boy, not realizing it was his mirror image he was looking at. Completing the symmetry, Narcissus takes his sword and kills himself from sorrow.
