Hollywood, CA (June 14, 2007)--The Mars Volta are recording their fourth album, The Bedlam in Goliath at Ocean Way Recording with engineer Robert Carranza. Set for a fall release, band member Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is producing the record, as he did the last two Mars Volta albums.

Engineer and mixer Robert Carranza is known for his work with such artists as Los Lobos, Ozomatli, Jack Johnson, Beck, Eels, Molotov and Supergrass.
The Mars Volta is the creative partnership formed in 2001 between bandleader/ composer/ guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and lyricist/ vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala. The band is known for its progressive rock, melded with jazz, punk and Latin influences. The Mars Volta is also notorious for its wild, energetic, and highly improvised live shows along with the use of ambient music.
The Mars Volta released their debut album, De-Loused in the Comatorium in 2003. The band returned in early 2005 with their second full-length release, the ambitious song cycle Frances the Mute. They also issued the live set Scab Dates later that year. Their third album, Amputechture, arrived in 2006, featuring performances by the Red Hot Chili Peppers' guitarist John Frusciante.
