Tα βραβεία Screen Actors Guild Awards απονεμήθηκαν, αλλά έκρυβαν λίγες ανατροπές το βράδυ της Κυριακής.
Για πρώτη φορά, η τελετή είχε οικοδεσπότη - για την ακρίβεια οικοδέσποινα- καθώς η Kristen Bell κλήθηκε να παρουσιάσει τη δίωρη βραδιά.
Ωστόσο μόνο γυναίκες παρουσίασαν τα βραβεία, μια κίνηση σε ένδειξη αλληλεγγύη για τα κινήματα #MeToo και Time's Up.
Τα σεξουαλικά σκάνδαλα και οι καταγγελίες ήταν και πάλι τα βασικά θέματα συζήτησης κατά τη διάρκεια της εκδήλωσης ιδιαίτερα όταν οι παρουσιαστές Marisa Tomei και Rosanna Arquette αναφέρθηκαν στις Asia Argento, Annabella Sciorra, Daryl Hannah , Ashley Judd, Mira Sorvino, Anthony Rapp και Olivia Munn ως γυναίκες που ανέδειξαν το θέμα.
Αυτή τη φορά πάντως οι εμφανίσεις στο κόκκινο χαλί δεν έκρυβαν κάποιο συντονισμένο μήνυμα και το χρώμα επέστρεψε.
Ελάχιστες ήταν και οι εκπλήξεις στα βραβεία που απονέμει καθώς όλα τα φαβορί βρέθηκαν να κρατάνε την διάκριση στα χέρια τους.
