"Passing Time" looks back at 60 years (from 1960 – 2017) of photographs taken in Lebanon by artist Fouad Elkoury. It took eight-month of research for the curators, Manal Khader and Gregory Buchakjian, to excavate the 160 photographs of this book - most of which have never been published before -, from the 50 000 images, meticulously numbered and labeled, of the artist's archive. The publication is suffused with emotion, and was realized in close collaboration with the artist.
"Metropolis" is the monograph of artist Marwan Rechmaoui, covering twenty years of works. One of the most important post-war contemporary artists from Lebanon and the region, Rechmaoui derives inspiration from the geography and rich cultural history of Beirut, his work often reflects themes of urbanization and contemporary social and behavioral demographics.
He uses industrial materials such as concrete, rubber, tar and glass to create tactile works on a large scale. His works have primarily focused on local landmarks (Beirut Caoutchouc, Burj El Murr, Yacoubian buidling...)
Diary of a Leap Year, is composed of 366 cutouts done by Rabih Mroué in local Lebanese newspapers and some international ones. 366 daily collages represent a personal record, reflection and an alternative way of writing on the acts of violence in the Middle East.
Beirut Round Trips is Guillaume de Sardes' photographic journal, depicting his wanderings in and around Beirut: an impressionist two-sided journey between day and night, dream and documentary.
In After Images, the artist Ziad Antar experiments forms, colors and light with his lens-less camera, during a long journey searching for the cities where mythology was born. At the core of his work is the questioning of the foundations of photography, through the destructuration of this art.
